A new ride

A brand new vehicle. These words sound luxurious, even excessive to most people around the world. Trust me, there’s nothing luxurious or excessive about reliability and longevity in a vehicle when you live in the bush of West Africa. This is especially true when dependable transportation is key to your connection with people and critical for obtaining day to day resources. Recently, one of the families for whom we advocate received funding for a new vehicle from one of their larger supporting churches. This 2019 Toyota is brand new but looks very similar to the late 1980’s model. This rugged Toyota comes with a full-frame chassis and 4.5 diesel engine. It isn’t available in the U.S. because it lacks airbags and other equipment common in the U.S. Their previous “jeep” had served them well but was no longer trustworthy for the medical missions they do deep in the rainforest, miles from their home base.
